Five years, zero lost-time injuries: Benang's safety record holds through five-fold growth.

Perth, Western Australia. Benang has recorded five consecutive years without a single lost-time injury, a milestone few contractors in the utility sector reach at any scale, and fewer still while growing as fast as Benang has.

From 2021 to 2025, Benang's lost-time injury frequency rate was zero in every year. Over the same period the company's hours worked grew almost five-fold, from around 33,000 hours per year to around 160,000, as crews delivered live water network renewals, gas main insertions, high voltage cable installations and remote mine site works across Western Australia.

Rapid growth is normally when safety records break. New starters, new crews and new scopes stretch systems built for a smaller company. Benang's record held because safety at Benang is a system, not a slogan: one integrated management system certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, accreditation from the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner, and daily pre-starts, inspections and hazard reporting run digitally on the SafetyCulture platform so problems surface before they become incidents.

The company's 2026 ISO recertification audit returned nil non-conformances, and its WorkCover premium rate has held at approximately 1.37 per cent since 2023, well below industry norms.

The record has not gone unnoticed by clients. Water Corporation recognised Benang with its 2023 Safety Award for the DryVac innovation, a non-destructive excavation method Benang's crews use to expose live underground services safely.
