Challenge
The package combined about 10 kilometres of underground power cable with new HV switchgear and metering, installed through congested ground and commissioned around Western Power's live network outages.
Approach
Benang self-performed service locating, HV switchgear and metering unit installation, directional drilling and open trenching for around 10,050 metres of cable, joint holes, high voltage cable jointing, terminations and earthing works, using its own crews and plant throughout.
Outcome
The high voltage cable was tested and commissioned with visual inspection, end-to-end phasing, insulation resistance and DCF 2.1 commissioning, every test passing, and the works were delivered with no safety or environmental incidents.
