Kalgoorlie Potable Water Dam Civil Works

Benang delivered civil works at the Kalgoorlie potable water dam, cutting down the reservoir overflow level, installing an exclusion barrier at the overflow structure and applying fibre reinforced shotcrete to extend the life of the spillway chute.

Challenge
The reservoir overflow level needed lowering and the ageing spillway chute needed strengthening, all delivered on a live potable water asset in Kalgoorlie.
Approach
Benang cut and removed a section of the overflow structure to reduce the reservoir overflow level, installed an exclusion barrier at the overflow structure, and placed fibre reinforced shotcrete over prepared reinforcement to extend the spillway chute.
Outcome
The works were completed across July 2022 to January 2023 with a peak crew of ten, no lost time injuries and no environmental incidents.
