HLZ Pipeline 500mm OD MSCL

Benang is installing a 500mm mild steel cement lined water main at Medina across both brownfield and greenfield sections for Water Corporation. The crew handles clearing, right of way, stringing and welding, installation, and reinstatement, with a peak crew of 30.

Challenge
The 500mm main runs through a mix of established brownfield areas and open greenfield ground, so the crew had to switch methods along the route while keeping the work safe and on programme.
Approach
Benang self-performed the pipeline build, clearing and grubbing, establishing the right of way, then stringing, welding, and installing the 500mm main through both ground types before reinstating the corridor.
Outcome
The project is running with zero lost time injuries and zero environmental incidents, and Aboriginal participation of up to 30 per cent.
