Gwelup Surge Vessel Bypass

Benang replaced the DN100 MSCL pipework on the surge vessel bypass at Gwelup, delivering the new bypass complete with a small, focused crew.

Challenge
The surge vessel bypass pipework at Gwelup had reached the end of its life and needed replacing around live water assets without disrupting the surrounding network.
Approach
Benang removed the old bypass and installed the replacement DN100 mild steel cement lined pipework, valves and fittings, working tight to the twin surge vessels with a three person crew.
Outcome
The new bypass pipework was completed and returned to service in September 2022 with no lost time injuries and no environmental incidents.
